Mangum Family Reunion 2012 - Hobble Creek Canyon

19-21 July 2013

Brett Mangum, Dick & Carole's son, planned and executed our reunion.  He did an amazing job, found a place that had ancestral significance, and yet he was flexible enough to change plans to accommodate the wishes of the group.

19 July 2013:  We all gathered at the reserved campground in Hobble Creek. It was perfect.

20 July 2012:  Family History Tour

This is the monument erected to honor Edwin Whiting, my 3rd Great Grandfather.
The marker states:

In Memory of
Edwin Whiting
Pioneer
Sept 9, 1809 - Dec 8, 1890
Homesteaded This Ranch
1871
Erected and Dedicated
Aug 17, 1935

Mom, Dawn Turner Mangum, attended the dedication
of the monument when she was 15 years old.

Such a beautiful place to homestead.

Then on to Springville to the cemetery:

We visited Edwin Whiting's gravesite.
One of his wives, Mary Ann Washburn, was buried with him.

Dick's family: Carole, Dick, Mom, Rustin, Rick, Natasha, Brett
(missing: Nicole, Jason, Tiffany)

Mom was tired so I took her home while the rest of them continued on with the family history tour and packed up camp. We then went to Bountiful to watch the parade in celebration of the 24th of July. The main reason we wanted to attend the parade this year was to see the 2,060 Stripling Warriors, the Sons of Helaman. Spencer and Hayden were marching with them.

After the parade we watched the fireworks:

21 July 2012:  On Saturday morning we met at Mueller Park West for a breakfast,
conversation and games.  A good time was had by all.

The park in Bountiful was a perfect place to gather again.
