Home via Panaca

1 July 2012

It has been so many years since we have been back to Panaca, Nevada where we lived for four years. We decided to make a visit as it is only an hour longer to go home that way.

On the road to Panaca.

We arrive in this tiny town.

Well this is new; and named after Neldon Mathews who was the
Lincoln County High School Principal when Wayne was teaching there.

This rock behind the high school and behind the football field where Wayne's band
practiced and played so many times in the past.  Some things don't change.

Panaca Ward; they have changed the door.

And they have added on a whole new wing and air conditioning.
It was a Sunday, but we did not go in as we weren't appropriately dressed.

The little motel where we lived the first three months we lived in Panaca.

Panaca has changed so much, I couldn't even recognize the street where we used to live. There are many new, really nice homes; but there are also many place that are no longer kept up. That was a disappointment.  Most of the people we knew in 1965-1969 have either died or moved away.  Life moves on and things never stay the same.

On the road again.

Fire on the mountain.
