Bountiful Temple

6 February 2014

We were asked to meet with a member of the Bountiful Temple Presidency on February 6th.  At that time President Phippen interviewed us and said we had been recommended by Bishop Stout and President Stuart to serve as ordinance workers.  We were humbled by the request and accepted the calling.  President Phippen gave us a beautiful blessing as he set us apart as ordinance workers. We were allowed to choose when we would serve and we chose the Friday evening session (3:00-9:00).  Actually it turns out to be much longer than that.  This calling is a bit traumatic as there is so much to learn and it is so important to carry the Spirit with us.  It will indeed require much help from our Heavenly Father.  We started on 7 March 2014, after the winter closing. It will bless us.

I actually took this photo.

A refuge from the storm.  A place of light and glory.

New Furniture

27 February 2014

We went to R.C. Willey to find some seating for my office.  I fell in love with these pieces of typewriter art as well.

I bought this carved, wooden bench that was made in India.

I was sorely tempted by this Paris art, but passed it by.

Random Happenings

January 2014

Ellie Mott is taking ballet and I love this photo of her.

On the 24th of January Lyndsey got a puppy and named him Gryffin (of Harry Potter influence).
He fell in love with Lyndsey immediately and we fell in love with this adorable puff ball.

Julie has joined a choir directed by Michael Huff called Utah Voices.
We went to their concert at Libby Gardner Hall at the UofU. Awesome!

On the 1st of February we went to the performance of the Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company.
Bashaun Williams, Lauren's friend, is a marvelous dancer.
The performance was so appealing to all generations.

I bought Adobe Photoshop Elements 12
with the Christmas money I received.
So much to learn!

Jack Parshall Brooks

19-22 January 2014

While Shawna and Jack were serving a mission in Montana, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor, had surgery and they came home. He enjoyed time with his family before the tumor grew out of control. He passed away at home in Centerville, Utah on Friday the 17th of January.

Jack had earned a military funeral by his service in the armed forces.
His funeral was held on the 22nd of January.
Even though funerals are sad occasions, it was nice to see so many family members.

Michael Scott Brooks with his oldest son, Larsen.  Larsen is an amazingly great young man.

Jack was buried in the Centerville, Utah Cemetery.

Michael helped Mom to the nice luncheon provided by the Relief Society.

I love this picture of Shawna and Ellie. They are good friends.

I was so glad Kim could come.
Chantel was back in Missouri and could not make it here again.
