Silver Lake Hike at Solitude

Wayne and I decided we needed a little outing.  We couldn't have chosen a more beautiful little hike.  The day was gorgeous -- a little wet, but that made the colors pop.

 

We ate lunch at the Silver Fork Lodge then headed back down Big Cottonwood Canyon.

It was a good get-away.

Wonderful Things

Spencer and Jordan Rule became very good friends in a very short time.

Jordan is going on a mission so it is all just fine.

What could be better than this marvelous capture.

I have learned to really, really admire Tanner Mangum. He and Mason were missionary companions for a time in Chile.  And we are related -- though distantly.  He's a great QB for BYU who is playing behind Taysom Hill this year.  He is a fun, positive person, a gentleman, a team player.

When all were yelling for the coach to let Tanner play instead of Hill, 

Tanner posted the following on Instagram:

"This is a TEAM GAME.  I am 100% behind this team.  No room for negativity."

I have wanted one of these for years.  Finally bought one and I LOVE it.

New Wills

Julie works at the law firm of Holland & Hart.

She and others in her firm were kind enough to witness the signing of our new Wills.

Their conference room table was incredibly beautiful. This room is called the River Room.

I was surprised when to see this sign from our old law firm when I went in Kevin Murray's office.  

Maybe he liked the time when we were all together more than I thought.

Julie has works in a really nice office.

I think she loves downtown Salt Lake as much as I do.

I know I liked my job a lot more than she does hers now.

Elder Hayden James St. John

We went to the Brick Oven to lunch, our traditional pre-MTC celebration.

Kari and family went to the Provo Temple for a couple of photos, then he was gone.

Hayden will be a great missionary because he has a deep, abiding testimony of the gospel.

It was a pleasure to be here for this occasion.

Kari is so articulate and has a deep love of the gospel.

So good to have Spencer home.

We are fortunate to live close enough to be present for these occasions.

Crew Harvey Mott

Our beautiful Melissa gave birth to Crew Harvey Mott in Salt Lake City

on 12 September 2016.

She and Jeff are wonderful parents and are thrilled with this little boy.

Ellie thinks he is pretty special too.

A new baby can certainly make your previous youngest look so big.

The birth of a perfect child is a true miracle. 

Isn't he just the best!  He is a mellow, sweet baby. 

After the cute Madi live wire, Melissa is so fortunate to have this quiet little man.

Lyndsey Here

We are so grateful that Lyndsey felt comfortable enough to come and stay with us for a month while she was up here.  Of course, she brought Gryffin and he was such a good dog.  He has grown up and brought us nothing but joy.  Lyndsey is brilliant and amazing and just needed a quiet place to stay.  Our home is extremely boring, so it is indeed quiet.  It was soul-satisfying to have them here.
