St. John's

7 July 2013

Hermana St. John and Hermana Shannon
And so here is the picture I told Katelyn she had to send me from the MTC.
"WHAT E'RE THOU ART
ACT WELL THY PART"
Plaque from Scotland that inspired David O. McKay on his mission.

I love having this wonderful St. John family over for Sunday dinners.
Kari, Spencer, Hayden, Paige

Hayden, the athlete, all decked out for his new cycling experiences.
He is such a great kid, even if he doesn't talk much.

I really love Jazzy. She is a beautiful dog.

Harry Potter Summer

27 June-25 July 2013

Two of the smartest people in my family adore Harry Potter, so I finally decided that I ought to find out what it is all about.  Lyndsey was having a Harry Potter party on the 26th of July and I wanted to have read the books by them. So I did.

Started the Sorcerer's Stone (in Britain, Philosopher's Stone) on June 27th.

I finished the Sorcerer's Stone and started Chamber of Secrets on June 28th.

Number three, The Prisoner of Azkaban, was started on June 30th.

I was ready for #4, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire on July 2nd.

I finished #4 and started #5, Order of the Phoenix on July 8th.
Number five was my least favorite.

I finished Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince on July 17th.

I was ready for the last book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on July 19th.
They are much longer now and darker.

On July 25th I finished #7, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, just in time for Lyndsey's party.

This was quite the experience and I must admit I liked these books far better than I ever thought I would. I am now a Harry Potter fan.  I was surprised that such a hero as Harry was also flawed. That is probably good because aren't we all a bit flawed.  Nice to know you can still accomplish amazing things without being perfect.

I owned none of these books so I borrowed some from Kari, some from Julie and some from the library.  For my birthday on August 6th, Kari bought me the whole set.  Awesome!

Amazing Quilt

25 June 2013

One of the benefits of serving in the Relief Society Presidency is visiting
in the homes of all the sisters in our ward.
Tonya Duke's mother made this quilt and it is phenomenal.
Those are real little clothespins holding up tiny pieces of handmade clothing.
I love this quilt and the detail and love she sewed into this for her granddaughter.

Odds and Ends

16 June 2013

It is so great that Cherie's kids like each other so much.
Hayden and Paige like my hammock after dinner.

How many kids in Jr. High get to eat dinner at LaCaille?

On June 22nd we went to Logan to attend Emily's Mini-concert of her piano students.
We always enjoy the bonus of hearing Emily play.

Kim Came & Brought Friends

12 June 2013

Today we went to Hogle Zoo, Temple Square and had a picnic in Mueller Park. It was fun to show Corgan, Ary, Eden and Stephanie some places here as they had never been to Utah. They went to Lagoon yesterday and had a fun time. So today we were set for different adventures.

Things have really been upgraded since I was here last.

The elephants certainly have a nicer place.

I think Jordan enjoyed it too.

Ellie always likes the zoo. They have a season pass.

Kim and Madi. We ate lunch here.

Kim's Instagram post of Ellie and me on the carousel.

Cute Kim - such a kind hostess.

Stephanie and her children by the Temple

Jordan by the Christus

Our expert fire builders. So glad Julie could join us.

I love Mueller Park. So many great family memories here.

Such a pretty place to picnic.

Cooking our hot dogs and marshmallows.

Cute Kim.

Julie dares try anything.

So glad Kari and Spencer came.

I was surprised when I came across the Liahona.

Hayden's Going to Kill Me

June 2013

Such a charming Romeo!

Emily Moves

8 June 2013

Emily moved from this cute house in Logan.

To this cute house just a few blocks away.
She will now have her piano studio in the front
and her living space in the back.

Perfect spot for her grand piano.

I love the quirky details of this house.

It is in a great location, just down the hill from the Logan temple and Utah State University.
Just across the street and up from the Tabernacle.

Lots of people, including Julie and me, came to help Emily.

Lyndsey Visits

6 June 2013

Lyndsey has always had a special bond with Madi.
I was glad she brought Ellie and Madi to visit us.

Zupa's & Marshall's

4 June 2013

What a great way to start the summer.
Lunch at Zupa's and bargains at Marshall's
I loved this book and read it quickly. I learned new things.

Dick & Carole

2010

I just really like this picture of Carole & Dick on their mission in Austria.
He has always been such a good person and a great brother to me.

Madeline Jane Mott

2 June 2013

I can't get over how beautiful Melissa and Jeff's yard is. Jeff really is a good landscaper.

Melissa had prepared a beautiful brunch.
So many delicious breads and spreads.
Stan & Sally brought honey from their own bees.

 Melissa, Madi, Ells and Jeff
What a great family.
The meeting was good and Jeff's blessing was perfect.

It's hard, but Julie was so happy to get all of Tom & her grandchildren in one photo.  Too cute!
