BBQ at Chantel's; Heritage Park, Pine Valley

We love going to St. George.  The weather is perfect and visiting family is even better.  So fun.  Chantel and Dave are the greatest hosts.  It was so fun to be with them and their family, Julie & Tom, Lauren and the Motts.

On the 28th we went with Julie, Jeff, Melissa, Ellie and Madi to have a picnic and play in the stream and fountains at the Historic District.

Then Wayne and I went to Pine Valley to see the reservoir.

So worth the trip. 

Kayenta, Utah

We love going to St. George, especially when Julie and her family come down too.  The first day we were there Wayne and I went to Kayenta.  It was more beautiful than I expected.

There were so many interesting things to see in the art gallery and in the pottery shop.

It was also fun to learn more of the history of Kayenta.

The grounds were spectacular.

We came at the right time of year.

Hayden's Mission Call

We are all a little upset with Hayden -- but we got over it in a hurry.  His mission call came while Kari was at work, but Paige was home.  He was told to wait to open it so Kari, at least could be there and hopefully we would be included as well as other family and friends who are so excited for him.  But he took the call, went to Logan Cook's home and opened it there.  At least he had it videotaped and let Katelyn watch on FaceTime.

He was so excited and just blown away by the call.  He will serve in the Madagascar Antananarivo Mission and enter the MTC in Provo on 14 September 2016 where he will start learning to speak Malagasy.  When he read his call he jumped up and down and was thrilled with the coming adventure and opportunity to serve.  He will be a good missionary.  Hayden is a wonderful young man.  So happy for him.  

Angel Moroni

Right in the middle of our sacrament meeting an enormous clap of 

thunder shook our entire building.

Then we learned that the lightning hit the Angel Moroni atop our Bountiful Temple.

Bad things can happen to good people.

Cataract Surgery

The month of May was spent getting our cataracts removed.  

Wayne had both of his eyes done first, then I started on mine. 

It's been stressful, but in the end we are both happy. 

Sure better than going blind as happened to people in years gone by. 

Cheers to Lauren for letting me steal her stylin' dark glasses.  They saved me.

Dr. Michael Wilcox is a renowned cataract surgeon.  It's nice to have
confidence in your doctor and it was so great to have the operations
and followup done right here in Bountiful, just down the road, at
Utah Eye Centers, Mountain West Surgical Center.

Mother's Day

After our dinner at our house with Julie, Tom, Melissa, Jeff, Ellie, Madi, Jacob and Hayley

we went to Mom's to see her as well as Emily, Rustin and Asher Beau.

Melissa made these wonderful sugar cookie bouquets for all the mothers in her family.

They were so intricate -- and delicious.

Kari sent this amazing bouquet to me.  So thoughtful and nice.

Wayne & my daughters also gave me great gifts.  I was spoiled.

Best of all, I got to talk to each of my daughters.

Hayden's Birthday Dinner

Kari generously treated us all to a Happy Birthday celebration at 

Tucanos Brazilian Grill for Hayden's 18th birthday.  Nummy and fun.

Linda Parry, Doug's Wife, Dies

At 1:03 a.m. this morning Linda was able to be released from her cancer-ridden body.

She has joined her granddaughter, Rylee, her parents and other loved ones in the spirit world.

She always liked Cherie so I am hoping they have a pleasant reunion.

Doug loved it when she would travel with him.  I'm not so sure she loved it as much.

She was a student of the scriptures, read them and a Conference talk every day.

She was a gifted teacher, especially when it came to illustrating a point with a story.

I have known her for 38 years through thick and thin.  I miss her great laugh.

Her breakfast every morning was Diet Coke and M&M's.

She used to get up at 5:00 a.m. once a week to clean the house. It was immaculate.

Her children - Craig, Sean, Andrew, Andrea, Becky and Sara - are amazing.

This was taken on Linda & Doug's 40th wedding anniversary.

After Doug left the practice of law the two of them went on a mission to Hong Kong.

Actually, he didn't leave practicing law, for in Hong Kong he was a lawyer for the Church.

Linda's funeral was very nice -- just as she had planned it.

We have the best Primary class ever.

With our four girls we also have four boys in our class.

Jaxson Daniels surprised us with his acceptance of the 

Book of Mormon Consecutive Club challenge.  He is doing great.
