A Moment of Joy

29 January 2013

Such a cute puppy came to visit.

I wanted to keep her, but so did her owners.

A Real Scare

January 2013

I think one of the reasons I quit recording our happenings was that it brought a heaviness to my heart.  But I still think it is important to remember all the good that comes from some of our greatest trials.

Cherie and Jazzmin on the 15th of January.
The beautiful patchwork quilt was made by her Principal at Oakhills Elementary, Julie Larsen.
Jazzy always seemed to know when Cherie especially needed her for comfort.

On Saturday, January 5th Cherie was taken to the hospital by ambulance when Kari woke up in the middle of the night and felt there was something terribly wrong.  He could not wake Cherie so he called an ambulance.  She was taken to Intermountain Medical Center where she was treated for a drug overdose which was a result of the medications prescribed for her building up in her body more than expected.  She had to stay at IHC until Tuesday, the 8th, until they finally had her meds regulated and let her go home. This experience was especially frightening.  We were all so glad to have her back home.

Cherie & co. Photo-shoot in Bountiful

17 November 2012

Cherie decided that her family needed some updated photos. She hated having her picture taken because her hair still hadn't grown out long enough and she did not like the way she looked in her wig, yet she felt it was more important that they get some family photos. Melissa was selected to be the photographer.  Melissa got some great photos, but I took my camera and got these snapshots. I hope I am not stealing any of hers, but to be sure give her the credit for the good ones, and certainly for the setup and locale.

I love the way Cherie and Kari interacted with each other.

I also liked these photos of Julie & Tom that I took.

Aileen and Joe Uriona asked Melissa to photograph them also.

Events - Graduation, Bridal Showers, 50th Anniversary, Grand Openings

Katelyn St. John
I had so much fun going with her and Melissa for the photo shoot.
She will be studying nursing at Utah Valley U.

Mason Craig Paxman
He will be attending the University of Utah.
He was great at baseball and golf.

Austin Steven Parker
He will be attending BYU Salt Lake in hopes of playing lacrosse for the Y.
I was thrilled when he got his Eagle. So awesome.

We attended showers for Ben and Lyndsey.
Ben's family threw a tool shower that was really fun and we were able to meet his family.

We are all kind of addicted to our electronics.

Lauren, Lyndsey, Melissa, Kim, Emily and Julie
Amazingly beautiful girls - oh how I love them all.

Ben and Lyndsey got so many fabulous gifts.

Our 50th Wedding Anniversary.
Fifty years went by faster than I thought possible.
All of our daughters came, as well as Tom and Kari.
We had a wonderful dinner at the Roof Restaurant in the Joseph Smith Building.

Can you believe!
I got a beautiful key necklace from TIFFANY's.

Kim tried a little of everything for dessert.

Chantel, Cherie, Claudine (me), Wayne, Kim, Julie
After dinner we went to my favorite place - City Creek Center.
It was such a nice evening and I was so happy.

The beautiful Caprese Salad at Settebello.

Kim and Michael, an excited owner of a new restaurant in Farmington.

Wayne and I loved the Grand Opening. Free delicious food. Great company.

Mark Brooks is the manager. We wish him well.

Even Mom came.
Katelyn is always adorable and she loved the gelato.

Little Historical Treasures

Shawna found these photos at Mom's. They came from Grandma Hazel Turner's trunk.

This is the house where the first child was born in Lyman, Utah.
This was Grandma Theda Jane Buchanan Oldroyd's home.

This is a picture of Great-grandpa Archie and Great-grandma Theda Jane Oldroyd's home in Lyman.
Grandma Hazel May Oldroyd is on the horse, far right.
When the Indians came begging, Grandpa Oldroyd would always feed and care for them.

These are three of Grandma Oldroyd's daughters and Grandma Turner's younger sisters,
Lucille, Janice and LaVell Oldroyd.

Also in the trunk were these two photos of me. The top one was taken when I was one year old. Notice the cross necklace. It had a ruby in the center. Mom always had me wear a little gold ring which she tied on with a pink ribbon around my wrist.

The bottom one was taken when I was two years old and it was published in the Ogden newspaper showing me as one of the dependents of those serving in the armed forces.

So Lucky to be their Grandmother

I could be wrong, but I think these photos were taken as a Christmas present for Steven & Kim.
