It was so surprising to me that we were called as ordinance workers in the Bountiful Temple. We received a telephone call from Sister Johnson at the temple and asked us to meet with a member of the temple presidency on February 6th. President Phippen, a counselor, interviewed us, said we had been recommended by Bishop Stout and President Stuart and asked if we would serve. Of course we accepted. He asked which shift we would like to have and we requested Friday 3 (from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m., once a week). We felt there would be more young people and perhaps more activity then. President Phippen extended the call and set us apart with a beautiful, powerful blessing. We started on March 7th, after the maintenance closing, and soon found that we were there much later than 9:00. But what great people we are working with. After a few months, Wayne found that his arthritis in his neck and back would not allow him to continue to serve, so he was released and started physical therapy. I continued.
The experiences in the temple have strengthened my testimony, greatly broadened my understanding of the doctrine and the priesthood and they have humbled me. It is indeed only through the grace of our Savior that I am able to do this work. It is hard, but it is also rewarding. My favorite part is interaction with the patrons and helping them experience the ordinances. It is a sweet experience.

What a beautiful picture of the temple. I didn't know the story of how you were called, so it was fun reading about that too. One day I will hopefully be working there as well, following the examples of you guys and Grandma and Grandpa Mangum. We are so lucky to live so close!
